Episode 6- September 10, 2012 Guest- Bert Guevara

Bert Guevara rose to fame during the huge garbage problem that beset the greater metropolitan area in the late 1990s. He was then chairman of the Sun Valley Subdivision in Paranaque where he was able to strong-arm his constituents in separating their garbage into biodegradables and recyclables with the phrase- "No Segregation - No Collection." For his work, his subdivision became the model of political will in action. Now that he is president of the NGO, Earth Day Network Philippines, he is at the forefront of bringing water to water-deprived upland communities from water sources 100 meters below by installing "ram pump"- a booster pump that does not use gasoline or electricity. His group is also into reforestation and have set up nurseries to propagate native tree species.
